I’m back, babies! This time, for good.
From the bleachers, it might not look like I’ve been gone at all, seeing as this is the fourth week in a row you’re receiving something from me.
In truth, I haven’t done much writing these past few weeks, channelling my energies instead on getting better sleep, playing Elden Ring, and spending quality time with the fam.
Starting today, the regular schedule will resume, which means the next issue will go live two weeks from now.
This Friday, I won’t take much of your time.
I wanted to commemorate my return with something different and fun. So I wrote a couple of haikus inspired by recent (and recurrent) happenings in my new home, the one I moved into pretty abruptly at the start of September.
I want you to breeze through these poems, feel what you’ll feel, and then go be with your family!
Also, it’s my first foray into haiku, so be gentle.
Target
A stink bug inside
The lamp hanging from the wall—
Cat’s perfect target.
A Big Enough Wardrobe
Very important—
A big enough wardrobe can
Solve many problems.
The Next Morning
Today I woke up
To a familiar landscape—
Cat’s butt in my face.
A Confession
When it comes
To washing dishes,
I’d rather not.
Coffee
The best thing about
Fresh coffee in the morning
Is my family.
That’s it. If you’ve enjoyed these little poems, mind letting me know by clicking the little 💙 button below?
No. 22 - Household Haikus
Dead @ “The Next Morning” 🤣
“A Confession” is my favorite. The dish pile never ends! I even have a dishwasher for the first time in 6 years and the pile still seems endless. 😂
My husband and I texted each other haikus in our first year of dating. He didn’t know it, but I’d been saving them all so at the end of the year, I made him a book with photos and all our haikus printed alongside them. They’re such a fun way to express little (and yet profound) moments like these! Now I want to write some again.
